My Niece - Grace Boersma- Chemistry Teacher

I'm so excited that you get to meet my Niece Grace- in the Magic of Moss episode of Life in Bloom. Grace is a big part of my life- she is actually Kelly's Niece- but I get to claim her too! We've done lots of things together over the years... Kelly's Brother and his wife have always been dedicated to having their daughters be part of our lives- whether it was in observing family events- like birthdays or holidays- or making sure we included in band recitals, or taking vacations. We've been to cool places like Arizona, Disney World, Cancun and Kings Island...Grace and her husband Nick- visit frequently and we like to vacation with them as well- we have a tradition with visiting the Breweries and Wineries in Michigan- and we've even stayed in a haunted mental institution (allegedly) - we like to make home-made pizza- and our favorite cocktail is the Elderflower Champagne Cocktail- from Life in Bloom! We love to pair those cocktails with card games or long discussions about Life- until hours of the morning... fun stuff!We visited Grace frequently while she was in College at Hope College in Holland Michigan- studying Chemistry. Grace was a recipient of the Woodrow Wilson Scholarship- and she was able to achieve her Master's Degree while student teaching chemistry in Detroit-under that scholarship. She's Smart!  Nick also has a Masters Degree in Chemistry- and they are settled here in Grand Rapids... where Nick teaches at Calvin College- and Grace teaches High School Chemistry at Godwin.I am so proud of Grace's Passion for education... her students love her- and she is a Positive Force- Mentor and Amazing Teacher for her students - (and those us who have her in our lives). I love hearing the stories of her success in Public Education- she's a great role model- and she has an incredible sense of humor- and unbridled passion for education. It's amazing to see the little girl you watch play the clarinet or spend time on vacation- become the person that so many look up to- and respect... She's A Gem!So when I asked her to come on Life in Bloom and play with Marimo Moss Balls- she was game - (watch the Magic of Moss Show here!) and we found out there were some many points we could discuss... including her recent trip to Iceland (Where Marimo Balls live in the wild) to Chemistry Flasks that could be used to house Marimos... it was a fun time- with Grace ... I hope you enjoy our project- and stay tuned... Grace will be back- with her kitty Flossy... in Season 2!
