I love the look of glitter on the roses. I learned a few years ago from you to also use finishing spray and then add glitter to your flowers. Is one product better to use then the other. I also add glitter to mums and poinsettias with the finishing spray. I'm a five time cancer surivor that started my shop from scratch in a small town. I love working and learning about the floral industry. I pray I stay well a long time so I can continue to serve others with beautiful flowers. Thank, Patti owner of Patti's Patch florist Tn

I saw you make this in Houston some months ago - absolutely loved it! I especially like the new addition in this video of the Stephanotis on bear grass.

Question - how do you keep the Stephanotis fresh without using cotton-tipped wire or Stephanotis stems? And could this still be done a day in advance?

Thanks,

Fabulous--thanks for all the tips! Just one question, would it be better not to seal the tips of the cascading flowers with oasis glue so they can still have a water source and just apply it to the sides to hold them in, or would this not work?
Thanks again!

Thanks for the questions... I prefer to use Tack 1000 or Tack 2000 to adhere the Glitter to the flowers... it also acts as an anti-transpirant... and helps the flowers last longer...

The Stephanotis cannot absorb water without the caylyx so when the stem is removed no amount of water will hydrate the florets... even with a steph stem or cotton tipped wire.. So again the use of an anti-transpirant is key to prolonging the life of the steph... GOOD Quality FRESH Steph will last for several days... so the Freshness and Quality of the STEPH is very very important...

Yes you can create this a day ahead and store in a cooler...

The Oasis glue doesn't seal the end of the stem... when you insert it into the foam... the glue moves down the stem and helps adhere the stem to the foam...

The BEST solution is to use a Stem Lock Product... Like FloraLOCK after you have inserted all the flowers into the Gala Bouquet Holder...

Keep the great questions coming... thanks for watching JTV!

Absolutely stunning J, I love the technique you showed using the stephanotis, Do you feel like the same idea could be used in a large pomander ball? I have a client that I think would love that idea, but how do you think it would look?

J - We seem to have quite a bit of problems with stephanotis. No matter how we process them, they seem to wilt within a few days. Is it the product or our handling?
Thanks!
Love bouquet.

Lindsey... I would try it out and see how it looks... it could be Fabulous!

Susan... The KEY to the Great Steph is to BUY the BEST... and if it wilts after a few days... it was more than likely POOR Quality!

My Sister developed this way to hold steph and keep it fresh...

Start with a Low tray with a 1/2 inch of Floral Foam in the bottom... soak the foam... and fill tray with water so that the foam stays wet...

Cut the end of the stephenotis stem and place in foam just like you would with any cut flower... place all the steph in the tray close together BUT Not Touching...

Then place Kleenex... NO Fragrance, No Lotion, Plain Old Cheap Kleenex over the top of the flowers... laying a single sheet lightly on top of the florets...

Then Mist the Kleenex with PLAIN Water... to flower nutrients... just water...
so that the Kleenex adheres to the florets... the whole kleenex will be damp... and transparent...

SLIP the WHole Tray in a plastic bag and blow up the bag so the bag is not setting on the Kleenex or Flowers... if you need to use a bigger bag... do that ... you don't want the bag touching the steph... or the kleenex!

Seal the bag with a twist tie and store in the cooler...

This will keep the steph fresh for several days and it will keep it hydrated and nice...

My Big Sister is Brilliant when it comes to Steph and hers is awesome all the time! She's the BOMB!
