Behind the Bloom- a Visit with Lois Boersma

J visits with Flower Friend- Lois Boersma- in her lovely home in Holland Michigan- Lois also happens to be the First Centenarian I’ve had the opportunity to interview on “Life in Bloom”- and there’s much more to this Wonderful Flower Loving Lady! Watch the Video here!

Today on our Web-exclusive Behind the Bloom Video – I’m visiting with my Flower Friend Lois Boersma- (Watch it here! ) she is the Grandmother of Nick- my Niece Grace’s Husband… who we love. Nick is also famous for his garlic roll recipe- he shared on Life in Bloom-( It’s been downloaded a Million Times…you can see it here – www.ubloom.com/blog/nicks-best-rolls -)

My Wonderful Friend- Lois Boersma- who happens to be the Grandmother of Nick - My Niece Grace’s Husband- who is also famous for “Nick’s Best Garlic Rolls” that have appeared on “Life in Bloom!

We visited Lois at her lovely home- in Holland Michigan- she maintains a wonderful garden- and also has a dramatic stand of Pachysandra - at the front door- that she loves to use in her flower arrangements. We set up in her formal living to have a wonderful chat about many things. For her appearance on Life in Bloom- in Episode 707- Flowers Can- (You can watch it here!) Lois talks about how technology has evolved- her garden- and why she’s not so crazy about Canning Fruits and Vegetables- (one of the Best Stories to include in our Show about Mason Jars hehehe!) In addition- Lois and I take to the kitchen and we arrange flowers- I make something in a Vintage Ball Jar- and Lois makes a Beautiful Centerpiece in Flower Foam- using her fresh picked Pachysandra… Be sure to check out that episode!

Lois and I arranged some Flowers - in her Kitchen… And Lois is a Wonderful Flower Arranger- one of her favorite things is arranging flowers from the Garden… You can watch her make this arrangement- in Episode 707- Flowers Can- Watch NOW!

I love visiting with Lois- she’s easy to talk to… and has a wonderful outlook on life… and in this episode she shares her favorite flower- her memories of the flowers her mother planted- and learning to drive! We talk about the Annual Tulip Time in Holland Michigan- how it’s changed over the years… Her Grandson Nick… her family- and Lois gives her advice for a long, happy, healthy life!
You see all this is very important- because Lois is a Wonderful and Talented Lady- that loves to Garden- she’s a Wife, A Mother, a Grandmother- and she’s got a great deal of expertise to share- after all – she is nearly 103!

Lois was also a recipient of one of our “Life in Bloom” Trademark Flower Crowns… and that is also featured in Episode 707- Flowers Can- You can watch it here!

One of the things that Lois wanted to share with me- in Episode 707- Flowers Can - is that she’s not fond of being introduced as the 102 year old lady… she feels (and rightly so) - that she is defined much more- by Who she is… and the experiences she’s had- than by her age… this was eye-opening for me- and it truly made me realize that we need to look deeper- into the lives of our friends and family to see how very important they are… and relish in the wonderful things they do, provide and love to share… I’m thankful that Lois taught me this lesson.

With a Lifetime filled with so many wonderful things… it’s one of My Favorite Things - to sit and “talk story” with Lovely Friends- in their homes- and learn more about their experiences- and love of Life… THANK YOU Lois- for visiting with me- and being a wonderful Guest on “Life in Bloom! Watch our Behind the Bloom Interview- here!

I hope you enjoy this treasured visit with my Wonderful Flower Friend… it’s special- and will give you a bit more insight into my Friend Lois Boersma… who just so happens to be a Centenarian too - Enjoy!
