‘Ohi‘a Lehua Daquiri
courtesy of Jenny Fiedler, author of The Essential Bar Book
INGREDIENTS:
1 oz ‘Ohi‘a Lehua Honey Syrup
1.5 oz rum
.75 oz lime juice
Garnish with Lime Wheel and Kolomona Flower
INSTRUCTIONS:
Add Rum, ‘Ohi‘a Lehua Honey syrup, and lime juice to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake the cocktail. Strain into a coupe glass. Garnish using a lime wheel as support for flower (a great trick!) - in this case a Kolomona bloom. Enjoy.
J’s NOTES:
Jenny shared that shaking a cocktail with a citrus ingredient is appropriate. Those without citrus should be stirred according to classic cocktail recipes. In my opinion, any flower makes a beautiful garnish as long as you know its status - edible, organic, or raised in your garden without pesticides. And in Hawai’i – or anywhere, really – take care to be respectful of where a flower is harvested, and that it is not endangered.
